Rita Normington

Rita Donnelly Normington, 80, of Amherst, Virginia passed away Thursday, July 2 , 2026. Born on June 12, 1946. She was the daughter of the late James Charles Donnelly and Rita Elizabeth McCloskey.
Rita was known for her deep devotion to her family, especially her grandchildren and great grand children. Rita dedicated her retirement years to serving through her cherished Catholic faith. She spent many years serving the Ancient Order of Hibernians, Our Lady of Knock Division. Rita loved Irish dancing in her later years.
In addition to her parents, Rita was preceded in death by her loving husband, John Wright Normington, her infant son, James Joseph, her siblings, Michael Donnelly, Kevin Donnelly, Margaret Donnelly, Marita Reilly and her grandson-in-law, Brandon Salvia.
Those left to cherish Rita’s memory include her son John A. Normington and his wife, Mary. Her daughter Susan E. McCafferty and her husband, Ronald, her grandchildren Sarah McCafferty Quarles and her husband Collin, Mary Kate Salvia, Jack McCafferty, Andreas (Drew) Angiolelli, Liam Normington, her great grandchildren, Damon and Atticus Salvia, her devoted niece Amanda Marita Babiarz, her brothers James Donnelly and his wife, Kathy, Joseph Donnelly and his wife, Ronnie.

Relatives and friends are invited to her visitation Friday July 31st 10:00 AM at Nativity BVM Church 2535 E. Allegheny Ave. Phila., PA 19134. Funeral Mass 11:00 AM.
